Teddy Bear Farm

Times have changed since we helped Dad butcher beef he had raised here on pasture but finished with both pasture and grain. Dad and Mom, J.C. and Mary Riddle, bought this farm in 1944. Dad had been orphaned as a young boy and he valued the security of his own farm for his family. When he bought the farm it was an abandoned sawmill with a great need for TLC. Dad spent the next 53 years improving and enjoying his farm. He and Mom raised cattle, hogs, and chickens and grew garden, wheat, barley, and hay. When Mom and Dad were 90 years old they reluctantly left the farm and moved to a retirement apartment in town. Not wishing the farm leave the family they sold it to us. The farm is a great joy to us, our children and grandchildren.
